Faye Carey

Instead of texting or going on facebook, Faye spends all of her day devoted to rehoming animals. Faye Carey is a teen activist who wants no more pets to be abandoned, as this is an important global issue.

She is an 18 year old born in Waikato and lives there to this day, Faye volunteered at her local animal control branch. Faye is not like other teen activists because she doesn’t use her phone all day or she isn’t always texting, she spends all day working. Faye is a great example of a teen activist because she even volunteered at her local animal control.

“We saw a puppy in the pound the first day I went and on my last day he was still there! I felt so sorry for him. So I advertised him on TradeMe (A large internet-auction website) and he got a lot of likes! He went to a great home in Auckland.” said Faye

The idea came from a Facebook page Faye made when she was trying to auction a litter of kittens. That page got over 300 likes! Faye has rehomed 60 dogs at her animal control, and Faye still spends every Friday at her local animal shelter.

You too can also help in this worthy cause by something as simple as sending out facebook messages to get them involved with their local community. Another way you could help is by sponsoring a pet adoption fair at your local pet store. Or you could even consider having a bake sale or some other fund raiser to help support pet adoption. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as you do something!
